Web Developer
Givex is looking for Web Designers with strong graphic design and HTML skills and an interest in print media. If you have a solid foundation of both technical knowledge and artistic principles and are a dual-brained Designer - programmer & artist with writing and project managing skills - you are a perfect fit.
Experience in all 3 areas is an asset:
- Visual Design; come up with creative and appealing designs for all media
- Front-end development; fluent in (X)HTML/CSS, knowledgeable in standards, accessibility & flow and able to convert the visual design into a remarkable website
- Back-end development; fluent in scripting, web servers and operating systems (tinkering to proficient)

Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with a creative team of 5-6 individuals, sharing knowledge, designing and building media products
- Web site development, content management and routine reviews for improvement of numerous Givex and clients sites
- Communicate with developers, coordinating web front-end and back-end functionality
- Create and design aesthetic web page layouts; quickly delivering numerous scenarios, mockups and proofs of concept for presentation to clients
- Learn technical artwork specifications for plastic card artwork
- Manipulation of client artwork - for web and gift & loyalty card production
- Support Marketing department; design collateral, tradeshow booths and material, all in-house marketing material
- Support Sales department; understand specifications and user requirements and produce various media deliverables for approval
- Desire and aptitude to learn new technologies
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office
- Education: Computer Studies, Fine Arts, Interactive Media or equivalent experience
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in Web Development; extensive knowledge in hand-code (X)HTML, CSS, and the ability to adapt and
learn any new language or application on the fly
- Working knowledge of PHP/ASP/Flash/script language(s)
- Experience in graphic design
- Knowledge of .NET, Coldfusion, Javascript, mySQL, MsSQL, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress and InDesign
- Fluent in numerous web browsers; behaviour, interfaces and outcomes
- Experience with programming languages, CMS (Plone) and web interface design is an asset
- Understand capabilities of back-end programming web development - not how to do it, but fully comprehend the options of what could be done
